I was born in Oakland, and have been collecting moments in my life where I encounter this of trace of humanity that first caught my eye when an after school fight broke up. Since I was too small to see the fight throught the mob, the only trace of conflict was the hair on the sidewalk outside "GameTown USA," an arcade on Broadway. I have since become fascinated... Almost obsessively halting my life to capture an image of something once paid for, uniquely styled, and even part of one's body... now on the street.
Each weave and subsequent picture tells a story... this is a place for those stories.
Street anthropology, I call it... I'm the fucking Indiana Jones of archiving weaves. Even my friends send me their pictures and weave stories. It was just this weird and interesting thing I did, but now it has even become part of my identity, in some circles, my street name ("Activist Name") is "Weave On The Sidewalk." Join me... it unbaWEAVEable.
